Sutter Pacific Heart Centers Research
The depth and breadth of our cardiovascular research underscores our commitment to provide state-of-the-art cardiovascular care.
Currently, we are one of only 20 centers in the nation to offer the DeBakey artificial heart ventricular assist device (VAD) as a bridge-to-transplant or more permanent therapy for patients who have suffered severe heart damage. In addition to this innovation, research on new drugs, devices and therapeutic techniques are on-going. We are exploring chest implant devices to monitor and stop irregular heartbeats that can lead to sudden death. Researchers are also using sophisticated diagnostic imaging techniques to determine whether a new drug therapy can reverse the progression of coronary artery disease. Several research projects are shared across our cardiovascular health care system.
Through the California Pacific Research Institute, Sutter Pacific Heart Centers physicians and researcher have access to some of the most current medical and surgical interventions available. Read more about the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute.
